Tamilisai Soundararajan, former BJP president in Tamil Nadu, has stepped down from her positions as the Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. Sources indicate she is likely to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Tamil Nadu.
The resignation was tendered in Delhi, with a formal letter sent to President Droupadi Murmu on Monday morning.
A statement from the Telangana Raj Bhavan confirmed the news, stating, "The Hon'ble Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Dr.Smt.Tamilisai Soundararajan has tendered her resignation with immediate effect. The resignation has been submitted to the Hon'ble President of India."
Sources close to the matter revealed that Soundararajan is expected to be included in the BJP's upcoming list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. It is speculated that she might contest from North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, or the Chennai South seat in the upcoming polls, as per sources.
In recent times, Soundararajan has been vocal in her criticism of the DMK government in Tamil Nadu.
