On Saturday night, during routine checks at the Ganga Barrage post on the Meerut-Pauri Highway, Magistrate Vikas Kumar and Inspector Tejveer Singh, part of the static team, intercepted a Ciaz car, discovering Rs 15 lakh concealed within it.
The discovery prompted the involvement of the Income Tax Department as the driver failed to provide sufficient explanation for the irregularities. The currency, consisting of 30 packets of Rs 500 each, was promptly confiscated as the driver was unable to furnish required documents. Subsequently, another vehicle was apprehended carrying Rs 5 lakh and 50 thousand, leading to further scrutiny by authorities.
