BRS leader K. Kavita arrested in Delhi Liquor scam

In a significant development related to the Delhi liquor scam case, former Telangana CM KCR's daughter and MLA K. Kavita (46) was arrested in Hyderabad by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). ED's action ensued after an exhaustive 8-hour raid at Kavita's residence on Friday, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing investigation. Kavita's transit to Delhi for questioning signifies a critical juncture in unraveling the complexities of the alleged scam.

The ED's probe into the liquor scam has unearthed a web of intricate details implicating various political and business figures. Kavita's arrest comes on the heels of revelations made during previous interrogations, including statements from businessman Amit Arora and Hyderabad businessman Arun Ramachandran Pillai. The emergence of Kavita's name in connection with the 'South Group,' purportedly involved in facilitating illicit transactions related to the liquor business in Delhi.

What is South Group?
South Group is a group of politicians, businessmen and bureaucrats from the South. These included Aurobindo Pharma promoter Sarath Reddy, YSR Congress Lok Sabha MP M. Srinivasulu Reddy, his son Raghava Magunta and Kavitha. The group was represented by Arun Pillai, Abhishek Boinpalli and Buchibabu. All three have been arrested in the liquor scam.
