Relief to Arvind Kejriwal in liquor case; Court grants bail on surety of Rs 15,000

Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi's Chief Minister, was granted bail by Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday, about two cases initiated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over his non-appearance on summonses related to the liquor policy issue. The court's decision came following the submission of a surety of Rs 15,000 for each case. During the proceedings, Kejriwal's lawyer, Ramesh Gupta, advocated for his client's release, citing incomplete document submission by the ED regarding the liquor policy matter. Both parties were directed by the court to present relevant documents for further examination. Subsequently, the court accepted the bail bond, allowing Kejriwal to depart.

Advocate Ramesh Gupta, representing Kejriwal, requested the court to exempt his client from regular appearance, a plea which was not objected to by the ED's legal counsel. The next hearing is scheduled for April 1, during which Kejriwal's application for the supply of case-related documents will be addressed.

Aam Aadmi Party's legal head Sanjeev Nasiyar said on the court's decision that we have full faith in the court. He said, 'Our stand regarding the ED summons is clear that they are not in accordance with the law and are illegal. Now the court will decide this. We have full faith in the court. Whatever decision the court takes, our decision will be in accordance with it'.
