In a pre-Holi gesture, the Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a 4% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for state employees, teachers, and pensioners. This decision will benefit approximately 12 lakh state employees, 6 lakh teachers, and 12 lakh pensioners across the state. The move follows a similar decision by the Central Government, reflecting a synchronized effort to address the economic concerns of employees amidst rising inflation.
The Finance Department, following approval from the Chief Minister, issued the order to increase the DA, ensuring that the enhanced allowance will be disbursed along with the March salaries. With this increment, the DA will now stand at 50%, incurring an additional burden of approximately Rs 350 crore on the state treasury. The decision is anticipated to provide relief to around 18 lakh beneficiaries, easing financial pressures in light of the current economic climate.
