Nayab Singh Saini assumed office as the new Chief Minister of Haryana, succeeding Manohar Lal Khattar, following the latter's resignation amidst discord within the BJP-JJP alliance. The swearing-in ceremony, held at Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh, witnessed the oath-taking of five ministers, including Saini, BJP MLAs Banwari Lal and Jai Parkash Dalal, and independent legislator Ranjit Singh. Notably, former Home Minister Anil Vij was absent from the ceremony.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Saini after he took oath as the CM. “Congratulations to Shri @NayabSainiBJP Ji on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana. Wishing him and his team of Ministers the very best for their efforts in fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Haryana,” he posted on social platform X.
Saini, representing the Kurukshetra constituency and known as an OBC community leader, took over the reins of the state BJP in October last year. His selection as the BJP legislature party leader came in the wake of Khattar's resignation, attributed to strains in the BJP-JJP alliance, which had governed.
“I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda, Haryana BJP in charge Biplab Deb and former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on being chosen the leader of BJP legislature party,” Saini posted on social platform X.
