In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made its first arrest in connection with the attack on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials during a raid in Sandeshkhali. However, Shahjahan's associates allegedly assaulted the ED officials, prompting the CBI to intervene.
CBI arrested three individuals, including Ziasuddin Mollah, a prominent Trinamool leader closely associated with Shahjahan Sheikh. Ziasuddin Mollah, who serves as the head of Sarberia-Agarhati Gram Panchayat, along with two others named Didarbux Molla and Farooq Akunji, were apprehended after being summoned by the CBI for questioning. The CBI's investigation into the incident comes after five ED officers were attacked during the raid, leading to three officers being hospitalized. The agency alleges that apart from physical assault, the attackers also confiscated the officers' mobile phones, laptops, and cash. The arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing probe into the incident, which has garnered attention due to its political implications.
