On the day of the Aditya L1 launch, ISRO Chief S Somnath received an unexpected diagnosis of cancer, leading to subsequent scans in Chennai which confirmed a hereditary condition. In an interview Somnath revealed details about his cancer treatment, shedding light on the challenging circumstances surrounding his health amidst his professional responsibilities.
S Somnath said, "In the morning before Aditya L-1 launched, I ran some scan that's when we realised that cancer was growing inside my stomach."
