Dhanbad's Deputy Commissioner, Varun Ranjan, faced the brunt of an error in welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi, resulting in his removal from office by Chief Minister Champai Soren.
The incident, during PM Modi's visit to Dhanbad, led to the inability of the CM and Chief Secretary L Khyangte to see off the Prime Minister due to a vehicle breakdown and delayed arrangements. Madhavi Mishra, an IAS officer of 2015 batch, has taken over as the new Deputy Commissioner of Dhanbad, replacing Varun Ranjan, whose tenure was marred by controversies and ineffective governance.
