SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
A tragic train accident occurred near Kaljariya railway crossing in Jharkhand's Jamtara-Karmatand area, claiming the lives of at least two passengers and leaving several others injured. Eyewitnesses reported the incident between Jamtara and Vidyasagar stations, where approximately 12 individuals were reportedly struck by the train, with only two confirmed fatalities thus far. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Murmu conveyed their condolences.
President Draupadi Murmu expressed grief by tweeting she wrote, 'The news of sudden death of many people in a train accident in Jamtara district of Jharkhand is extremely saddening. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured'.
In response to the accident, a three-member committee has been formed to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, aiming to ascertain the circumstances leading to the tragic incident. Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta directed relief and rescue efforts, instructing the Deputy Commissioner of Jamtara to ensure continuous support to the affected individuals and urging the Civil Surgeon to provide prompt and comprehensive medical treatment, emphasizing the importance of diligent care in the aftermath of the accident.
