In a significant development regarding the money laundering case linked to a job-for-land scheme, Rouse Avenue Court has granted bail to former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, her daughter Misa Bharti, Hema Yadav, and Hridayanand Chaudhary. The court's decision comes amidst allegations that Lalu Yadav secured lands for his family members in exchange for railway jobs during his tenure as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009.
The court justified its decision by stating that the accused were not arrested during the investigation, providing no grounds to reject their regular bail petitions. However, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has opposed the bail plea, emphasizing the seriousness of the alleged crime. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) contends that railway officials expedited the appointment process for Group D posts within three days of land registration, indicating a quid pro quo arrangement orchestrated by Lalu Yadav to obtain financial benefits for his family.
