Vikramaditya Singh, Congress MLA and former minister in Himachal Pradesh, tendered his resignation, accusing the Sukhvinder Sukhu-led government of subjecting him to humiliation. In an emotional address, Singh highlighted what he perceived as a lack of respect towards his father, six-time Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, by the current administration. Singh lamented, "Someone who was the CM of the state for six times, due to whom this government was formed in the state... they could not find a small space for his statue at Mall Road. This is the respect this government has shown to my late father."
Singh's resignation follows Congress's loss of the sole Rajya Sabha seat to BJP due to alleged cross-voting by six of its MLAs. The BJP called for Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's resignation, citing a loss of mandate and trust, although the CM dismissed these claims. Singh, who held the portfolio of Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department Minister, expressed frustration over what he described as attempts by the government to silence MLAs' voices, stating, "There is no doubt that former CM Virbhadra Singh's name was used in the (Assembly) election... I have never said anything about the functioning of the government, but it is my responsibility to say it clearly today."
