Lenovo steals the spotlight at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona by revealing the world's first transparent laptop, the ThinkBook Transparent Concept. This innovative device features a 17.3-inch borderless screen, a transparent keyboard area, and a floating footpad design, resembling a gadget straight out of a sci-fi movie.
This futuristic device offers up to 55% transparency when pixels are set to black, providing a unique visual experience. However, unlike conventional premium laptops, it utilizes a MicroLED display instead of AMOLED, promising superior saturation, transparency, brightness, and image quality.
While specific hardware details remain undisclosed, Lenovo confirms the laptop operates on Windows 11 OS, aligning with other high-end models. Notably, the concept video showcases a flat touch keyboard, projected rather than physical, which fades as a stylus approaches, catering to artistic and architectural needs. Despite being a concept, Lenovo's executive director of ThinkPad portfolio, Tom Butler, expresses optimism about the technology's practical application, hinting at its potential realization within the next five years.
