The historic Bapudham Motihari station, revered for its association with Mahatma Gandhi, is set to undergo a remarkable transformation, with the Railway Ministry embarking on a comprehensive redevelopment project worth Rs 205 crore. Efforts are underway to beautify the expansive 14-acre premises of the station, with construction work progressing rapidly under a meticulous action plan aimed at enhancing both aesthetics and facilities for passengers.
The ambitious redevelopment project entails the construction of a four-storey main building housing shops catering to passenger needs, a food plaza offering Indian and Chinese cuisine, comfortable retiring rooms, and a banquet hall. Elevators, escalators, and stairs will ensure seamless accessibility across all platforms.
Additionally, platform number two will witness development with a two-storey structure, providing essential amenities and shelter to passengers. To promote sustainability, solar panels will be installed atop passenger sheds, offering a renewable energy source and ensuring illumination across the station premises, reducing reliance on conventional electricity sources.
