Another big blow INDIA bloc; No SP-Congress alliance in UP, says sources

The negotiations between the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress for an alliance in Uttar Pradesh have hit an impasse, according to sources familiar with the matter. Talks persisted late into the night between Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav concerning seat distribution, but no agreement was reached. Sources indicate that there will be no alliance between the SP and the Congress in Uttar Pradesh.

In a significant development, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya announced his resignation from the party on Tuesday. Additionally Maurya also quits as a member of the state legislative council.
