SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases

Talks persisted late into the night between Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav concerning seat distribution, but no agreement was reached. Sources indicate that there will be no alliance between the SP and the Congress in Uttar Pradesh.
In a significant development, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya announced his resignation from the party on Tuesday. Additionally Maurya also quits as a member of the state legislative council.
