Swami Prasad Maurya to launch new party amid resignation from Samajwadi party

Former National General Secretary of Samajwadi Party, Swami Prasad Maurya, has decided to venture into the political arena by forming his own party, as confirmed by sources. The veteran leader, who recently resigned from his position within the Samajwadi Party, is anticipated to unveil the name of his new political organization on February 22 at Talkatora Stadium in Delhi. The event is expected to witness the participation of various leaders, including old Bahujan faces and Dalit OBC leaders, potentially setting the stage for a distinct political entity.

Swami Prasad Maurya, a prominent figure in UP politics, resigned from his role as National General Secretary of the Samajwadi Party, citing issues related to discrimination and the party's failure to acknowledge his efforts in broadening its support base. Speculations are rife that the new political organization led by Maurya might include several of his Samajwadi Party supporters, former MLAs, and ex-MPs from Bihar. While the exact composition is yet to be finalized, it is anticipated that Swami Prasad Maurya could collaborate with OBC Dalit leaders and faces to form a distinct political entity.

In response to questions about the formation of a new party, Swami Prasad Maurya emphasized his focus on ideological alignment rather than positions. He remarked, "Whatever respect you have given me, I return it. Because position does not matter to me, thoughts matter to me." The decision-making process for the new political entity is said to involve the gathering of workers in Delhi on February 22, with the final decision aligned with the workers' consensus. Swami Prasad Maurya's resignation from the Samajwadi Party raised eyebrows as he underscored issues of discrimination within the party and the need to relinquish an "unimportant post."
