The Champai Soren government in Jharkhand underwent a significant expansion as Chief Minister Champai Soren administered the oath of office and secrecy to eight new ministers, including Basant Soren, the younger brother of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
This development adds a familial dimension to the state's political landscape, as Basant Soren takes on a crucial role in the JMM-Congress-RJD-ML coalition government. The expansion comes amid political challenges during Champai Soren's ten-month tenure, aiming to strengthen the government's capabilities and representation.
In a ceremony organized at the Durbar Hall of Ranchi Raj Bhawan, Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan oversaw the swearing-in of eight new ministers in Chief Minister Champai Soren's cabinet. Basant Soren, Hemant Soren's younger brother, took the oath alongside seven others, marking a key development in the Jharkhand political landscape.
The expanded cabinet includes six ministers from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and three from the Congress quota, reinforcing the coalition government. Notably, Basant Soren's induction is seen as a strategic move, highlighting his potential influence in navigating the political challenges faced by the coalition.
