Mamata calls urgent meeting at Nabanna tomorrow, key administrative officials to attend
All three candidates nominated by the Samajwadi Party (SP) for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, including veteran actress Jaya Bachchan, filed their nominations amidst the presence of SP National President Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Singh Yadav.
Alongside Bachchan, former Union Minister Ramji Lal Suman and former UP Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan are also named as SP's nominees. The decision was reached after discussions held at the state party headquarters on Monday, attended by Akhilesh Yadav, Chief General Secretary Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav, and several MLAs who signed a plain paper to propose the candidates.
Jaya Bachchan, a prominent figure in the film industry, is running for the Rajya Sabha for the fifth time, while Ramji Lal Suman, a Dalit leader with past ministerial experience, aims to leverage his political track record to appeal to Dalit voters in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, Alok Ranjan, former Chief Secretary of UP during the Akhilesh government, is seen as a strategic choice given his experience and influence in the state's political landscape.
