A tragic incident unfolded in Sikkim on Saturday evening as a milk tanker collided with three cars during a Tambola program in Ranipool. According to Gangtok District Magistrate Tushar Nikhare, the accident occurred around 7:30 pm, claiming the lives of three individuals and leaving approximately 20 others injured. The tanker's brakes reportedly failed, leading to the catastrophic collision that resulted in chaos and devastation.
As per the district magistrate's report, the Tambola program was underway when the tanker entered the area, resulting in the fatal collision. CCTV footage captured the horrific scene, depicting the severity of the accident as cars were wrecked, and numerous individuals were impacted. The injured were promptly transported to the Central Referral Hospital for medical treatment, with the death toll possibly rising as investigations continue. Meanwhile, the Sikkim government has announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased and pledged to cover the medical expenses of the injured victims.
