On Friday morning, the Citizen Committee organized a Rail Roko agitation, demanding the stoppage of trains at Nandanpur Kerarpada halt station in Jalpaiguri district. The protest led to the disruption of train services, causing several trains, including Haldibari-Chitpur Intercity Express, Darjeeling Mail, and Haldibari-Kolkata Superfast Express, to get stuck at various stations.
The agitation, which lasted for hours, inconvenienced passengers until it concluded around 10:30 AM, after which train operations resumed to normal. To address the situation, special buses were arranged by the Railways to transport passengers of the Bangladesh-New Jalpaiguri Mithali Express, which had reached Haldibari from Bangladesh with 146 passengers.
