In a series of alarming incidents, residents of Gobindpur in Howrah's Jagatballabpur and Balichak, Sahachak area of Amta are living in fear due to the relentless attacks by a monkey. Reportedly, the rogue animal has bitten at least 30 individuals over the span of seven days, leaving many injured and requiring medical treatment at Amta Rural Hospital and Gabbariya Hospital. Despite repeated pleas for assistance to the Forest Department, villagers claim to have received no aid, leading to a state of distress and helplessness.
According to eyewitnesses, monkey is brazenly entering houses during the day and attacking residents, while also targeting people on the streets without provocation. The situation has left villagers terrified, with many opting to stay indoors for fear of encountering the aggressive animal. As the attacks persist, concerns grow over the safety and well-being of the community, urging authorities to take swift action to address the escalating threat.
