Bhardwaj's company enticed investors with promises of profits in Bitcoin, leading to substantial investments. The investigation revealed that the beneficiaries received Bitcoins in passive wallets, concealing their transactions.
Moreover, the ED has unearthed a hawala-crypto connection, uncovering links to real estate investments in Dubai. The scam, orchestrated by Simpy Bhardwaj along with her husband and late brother-in-law, lured investors with high returns in cryptocurrency.
The investigation delves into the beneficiaries' involvement, their investment amounts, and the acquisition of Bitcoins through mining. Additionally, the probe revealed transactions involving Bollywood celebrities and the utilization of cryptocurrency in hawala operations, shedding light on its growing prominence in illegal financial activities.
