Iraq's Prime Minister's military spokesman, Yahya Rasool, stated on Thursday that the continuous series of U.S. strikes targeting Iran-backed armed groups in the country is prompting the government to contemplate ending the mission of the U.S.-led coalition.
The statement comes in response to a recent U.S. military strike on Wednesday, which claimed the life of a commander from Kataib Hezbollah, an Iran-backed armed group accused by the Pentagon of attacking U.S. troops in Iraq. Rasool emphasized that the U.S.-led coalition has evolved into a destabilizing factor, posing a threat of entangling Iraq in an ongoing cycle of conflict.
