Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed admiration for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's significant contributions to Parliament and the nation during a farewell speech in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. Modi highlighted Singh's extensive guidance and leadership in both the House and the country, acknowledging his lasting impact.
The farewell ceremony for retiring members of the Rajya Sabha took place at Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar's residence, with a group photo session at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the morning and a formal farewell function scheduled for 6.30 pm at 6, Maulana Azad Road.
Speaking about Manmohan Singh's dedication, Modi recalled a memorable incident in the old Parliament building during a trust vote against the government. "I want to remember Dr Manmohan Singh today, his contribution has been immense. For such a long time, the way he has guided this House and country, Dr Manmohan Singh will always be remembered for it.," Modi said. “I hope the experience of retiring MPs will benefit the country and inspire new generations,” Modi added.
