Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, arrived at the Enforcement Directorate's Patna office today for questioning in connection with the land-for-jobs case. The Enforcement Directorate had issued summons to Tejashwi on January 19.
This development follows the extensive questioning of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday at the same office in relation to the same case. Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejashwi's father, was questioned for nearly 10 hours. Misha Bharti, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav a co-accused in the case accompanied the leader to the office and a large number of RJD workers also gathered outside the office of the central agency. They protested outside the office, shouting slogans against the central government.
The alleged scam pertains to the period when Lalu Yadav was the railway minister in the UPA-1 government from 2004 to 2009.It is alleged that from 2004 to 2009, several people were appointed to Group "D" positions in various zones of the Indian Railways and in return, these people transferred their land as bribes to the family members of the then railway minister and a linked company named A K Infosystems Private Limited.
