Police obstruct BJP's Sukant Majumdar in Howrah amidst worker injury claims

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership asserted that several of their party workers sustained injuries during a disturbance near Howrah Maidan's Phansitala intersection on the night of the 24th. State President Dr. Sukant Majumdar visited the site on Saturday afternoon to assess the situation.

However, he encountered obstacles from the police while attempting to see the injured BJP workers. The police had set up barricades in front of Howrah Municipality, preventing Sukant Majumdar from entering the area. Despite the police intervention, the injured BJP workers were brought in front of the Howrah Municipal Corporation gate.

Sukant Majumdar questioned the rationale behind the police obstruction, emphasizing that Section 144 did not apply to the location where he was stopped. On that day, Sukant Majumdar and BJP workers attempted to move forward by breaking the barricade, contending that the police had invoked Section 144 only in areas where law and order were reportedly not under control.
