Union Minister and BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman accused the Tamil Nadu government, led by DMK's MK Stalin, of hindering the live telecast of the Ayodhya Ram Temple event, labeling DMK as a "Hindu-hating" party. Sitharaman claimed the Tamil Nadu police were being misused by the state government to express personal animosity towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The Tamil Nadu police are being misused by the government of Tamil Nadu...They are being misused by Hindu-hating DMK...Can any citizen be denied to watch the Prime Minister? The DMK is showing its personal hatred for the Prime Minister," said Sitharaman.
She further alleges saying, "In the Thovalai Murugan Temple , located in Nagercoil, permission is being denied to put up LED screens for live telecast. Order by police seen below."
The Supreme Court intervened, instructing Tamil Nadu authorities on Monday to adhere to the law and justify any actions related to banning special prayers or the live telecast of the Ram temple consecration.
The Supreme Court emphasized recording reasons for such decisions and maintaining data on places of worship facing restrictions. Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi claimed repression against the staff of Shri Ram temple in Chennai, which operates under the state government's control.
