In a dramatic incident during the Kolkata Police half-marathon on Red Road, a pylon collapse left Additional Commissioner Murlidhar Sharma injured. Shamil Trinamool All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee participated in the marathon, choosing the 10-kilometer stage. Running in a black shirt and white trousers, Abhishek continued the marathon despite the unfolding events.
The marathon, offering three stages of 21 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and 5 kilometers, saw an unexpected accident as an archway collapsed on Red Road in the morning. The large pylon, positioned near the race's finishing point, toppled over in a sudden gust of wind, falling on Murlidhar Sharma's neck.
Reports indicate that Murlidhar suffered head and back injuries in the incident, prompting his immediate transfer to the Moulali Institute of Neuroscience, where he is currently receiving treatment.
