Delhi Police arrests creator of Rashmika Mandanna deepfake video

The Delhi Police announced on Saturday the apprehension of the individual responsible for creating a deepfake video featuring popular actor Rashmika Mandanna. The deepfake, which surfaced online on November 6, 2023, quickly gained viral attention. In this manipulated video, Rashmika Mandanna's face was digitally superimposed onto a video originally featuring British influencer Zara Patel.

The arrest is part of the ongoing investigation that began in November, with similar incidents involving deepfake videos targeting celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Kajol, and Sachin Tendulkar. The Delhi Police had previously interrogated several social media users who shared the deepfake video, aiming to identify the originator of the fabricated content.
