The mayoral elections in Chandigarh, originally scheduled for today, were abruptly postponed due to the presiding officer's illness, leading the Congress to accuse the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating a failed 'Operation Lotus.'
Congress alleges that the postponement is a result of the BJP's inability to accept their anticipated defeat, with the term 'Operation Lotus' referring to the BJP's alleged strategies to destabilize governments through defections. Chandigarh Congress chief H S Lucky stated that the BJP lost morally by abstaining from voting, signaling their apprehension over the potential outcome.
