CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the renowned month-long Makar Sankranti Mela at the Gorakhnath Temple, commencing the festive celebration. The event, known for its cultural significance, saw CM Yogi serving khichdi to children and extending blessings to devotees queued up for offering khichdi.
As per tradition, the khichdi of the Nepal king will be the first to be offered. CM Yogi has performed special rituals today, offering khichdi and praying for the well-being of every citizen and the prosperity of the nation.
In preparation for the Mela, CM Yogi flagged off sanitation vehicles, marking the beginning of a week-long cleanliness drive. Stringent measures were implemented, including a complete ban on polythene within the Mela premises. Cotton bags were provided to devotees at six stalls in exchange for ₹10 coins.
To ensure cleanliness, 200 sanitation employees were deployed round the clock. The temple area was divided into super zones, sub-zones, and sectors, with 3115 cops and PAC jawans ensuring security. Devotees from Bihar, Nepal, and other states are expected to join the month-long celebration.
