Amidst accusations from Vicky Jain's mother, Ankita Lokhande's mother, Vandana, has come forward to defend her daughter against claims that she talks about her ex-boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput, on Bigg Boss 17 to gain sympathy. In an interview with India Today, Vandana clarified that Ankita's mentions of Sushant on the reality show are not a strategy for sympathy but stem from their eight-year-long deep bond. Sushant, who passed away in June 2020, shared a significant part of his life with Ankita, even after their breakup, as she held him in high regard, acknowledging his career and mourning his untimely demise.
She said, “Sympathy jata rahi hai lagta hai, apne liye. Sushant ko kya pada, woh toh chala hi gaya. Woh tha tabhi bator ke le gaya, kitne acche acche kaam kiye usne (I think she is trying to gain sympathy for herself. What does Sushant care now? He's gone. He got all the love when he was alive and did all the great things).”
Ankita and Sushant met on the set of Pavitra Rishta and were in a relationship for an extended period before parting ways. The controversy escalated with a recent Bigg Boss 17 promo where Ankita, in a special episode, expressed concerns about her in-laws favoring Vicky over her. This led to an emotional confrontation as Ankita questioned why she faced criticism while Vicky received preferential treatment from her loved ones.
