"In a distressing incident, a one and a half-month-old boy and a two-month-old girl in Munger, Bihar, succumbed to high fever and nose bleeding after receiving the pentavalent vaccine. The tragic deaths have sparked chaos and grief among the affected families, leading to a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatalities."
Two infants, Aditya Kumar and Anushka Kumari, lost their lives in Rajadih village of Tetiya Bamber block, Munger, Bihar, after receiving the pentavalent vaccine. The children experienced high fever and nose bleeding following the vaccination, leading to Aditya's demise on Wednesday night and Anushka's on Thursday night. Family members, distraught by the sudden loss, protested at the Tetiya Bamber Prathmiki Health Center on Friday, seeking answers.
Health workers administered the vaccine at home as part of a routine vaccination campaign to protect children from diseases like Haemophilus influenzae type B, tetanus, mumps, pertussis, and hepatitis B. While health authorities emphasize that vaccination cannot cause death, an investigation is underway to understand the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
