Ponds on HIDCO land in Newtown Akandakesari area, under Technocity police station, have been filled overnight, sparking a dispute between local residents and authorities. The individuals involved in the filling claim that the land was given to HIDCO for water drainage purposes, dismissing allegations of illegal activity. They argue that the situation is politically motivated to impede their efforts.
Patharghata Panchayat Deputy Chief, Akhtar Ali Ghazi, countered the filling, stating opposition to any unauthorized activities. He announced plans to reopen the reservoir by digging the soil and affirmed that legal actions would be taken against those involved in the filling.
