In a crucial development, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved the expansion of the Lucknow Metro during a review meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) on Tuesday. Stressing the necessity of enhancing the metro network in the state capital, Yogi directed officials to extend the existing Lucknow Metro to IIM on Sitapur road and SGPGIMS on the Rae Bareli route.
Emphasizing the importance of private sector collaboration, Yogi suggested considering a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode for the expansion. The Chief Minister also expressed enthusiasm about the involvement of private companies willing to cooperate with the initiative.
The chief minister directed the officials of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation ( UPMRC) to start working on a new route from Charbagh to Basant Kunj via Chowk.He said, “The metro currently operating in Lucknow should be extended up to IIM on Sitapur road on one side and SGPGIMS on Rae Bareli route on the other. Many private sector companies are willing to cooperate for this. In such a situation, we should consider PPP mode for expansion.”
