Amid speculation about a potential change in leadership, the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led coalition has called for a crucial meeting of its legislators in Ranchi on Wednesday. The move comes against the backdrop of repeated summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to CM Hemant Soren, triggering anticipation of significant developments within the party.
JMM leader Vinod Pandey confirmed the meeting scheduled for January 3 at 4:30 pm in Ranchi. Speculation intensified following the resignation of JMM lawmaker Sarfaraz Ahmad from the Gandey seat, fueling rumors of Hemant Soren possibly stepping down and his wife, Kalpana, being considered as his successor.
The ED's repeated summons to Soren in connection with an alleged land scam has added to the political tension. Despite facing potential legal ramifications, Soren has been vocal in his criticism of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of attempting to destabilize his government. Soren asserted that 2024 would witness significant political shifts, predicting the complete defeat of the BJP in the upcoming struggle.
