In a significant development, All India Fair Price Shop has declared its decision to abstain from distributing the government-provided free ration starting January 1. This announcement comes in the wake of a one-day dharna (sit-in protest) organized by the Ration Dealers Association of West Bengal outside the food building.
The primary demand voiced during the protest is a plea for an increase in the commission received by the dealers, citing it as insufficient for sustaining their operations. The association insists on a monthly minimum income guarantee of 50 thousand rupees, emphasizing that only then will they be able to effectively run ration shops and distribute free grains.
