Nina Singh, a 1989-batch IPS officer from the Rajasthan cadre, has etched her name in history by becoming the first woman to lead the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), responsible for ensuring security at airports and the Delhi Metro. Serving as the Special DG of CISF since 2021, Singh's elevation to the Director General position marks a significant milestone. Her tenure at the helm will continue until her retirement on July 31 next year.
Nina Singh, hailing from Bihar and an alumna of Patna Women's College and Jawaharlal Nehru University, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Notable achievements include being the first woman to hold the top police post in Rajasthan and contributing to high-profile cases during her tenure as Joint Director of CBI, including the Sheena Bora murder case and the Jiah Khan suicide case.
With a background in public administration from Harvard University and involvement in projects to enhance police station accessibility, Singh is well-positioned to lead the 1.76 lakh-personnel strong CISF, tasked with guarding critical installations in aerospace and nuclear domains, along with securing civil airports and the Delhi Metro.
