Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
Latha Rajinikanth, the wife of renowned actor Rajinikanth, has been granted conditional bail by a Bengaluru court in connection with a forgery case related to the financing of the 2014 film Kochadaiiyaan.
Appearing before the court on December 26, Latha refuted all accusations, stating that she is facing the consequences of being 'famous' and asserted her innocence in the matter. The forgery case involves allegations of Latha facilitating a loan of ₹10 crore, with her signature, to an individual named Murali of Media One, as filed by an advertising bureau in Chennai.
The court proceedings revealed that Latha was accused of being a guarantor for the loan during the production of Kochadaiiyaan, directed by her younger daughter Soundarya. Latha expressed innocence, clarifying that her involvement was limited to guaranteeing the loan. The case took a turn when Latha accused the prosecution of doctoring new charges without a factual basis.
She stated, "This family has been humiliating me and harassing me for many years. We proved that the handwriting in the letter is not mine through the forensic report." Post the court's verdict, Latha was required to sign a bond worth ₹1 lakh and submit ₹25,000 in cash. Another hearing on the case is scheduled for January 6, 2024, continuing a legal battle that has spanned nearly a decade.
