Mamata calls urgent meeting at Nabanna tomorrow, key administrative officials to attend
East Champaran Superintendent of Police, Kantesh Kumar Mishra, has suspended four police personnel, including two sub-inspectors (SIs), after one of the two Nepali smugglers arrested with 7.46 kg of hashish managed to escape custody. The suspension also includes constables Chandan Kumar and Shaligram Kumar.
The development unfolded shortly after the arrest of Sudarshan Sah and Lalbabu Thakur, residents of Parsa district in Nepal, near Harishankar Verma College under Ramgarhwa police station limits in Bihar.
As per official statements, while the two smugglers were en route to Motihari to be presented before a court, they successfully evaded police custody at Sagauli. Although one of the smugglers was apprehended, Sudarshan Sah managed to escape.
A show-cause notice has been issued to the station house officer (SHO) as part of the ongoing investigation into the escape incident.
