A Delhi Rouse Avenue court has denied bail to Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Singh, in a money laundering case linked to the defunct Delhi liquor excise policy of 2021-22. The Special Judge, M K Nagpal, made the decision, rejecting Singh's bail plea following the proceedings held on Friday.
The rejection comes after the court adjourned proceedings and scheduled the verdict on Singh's bail application for December 22. The judge, during the hearing, considered arguments from Singh's counsel, highlighting contradictions in statements, particularly from accused-turned-approver Dinesh Arora and other witnesses regarding alleged bribes.
Enforcement Directorate opposed Singh's bail application, expressing concerns about potential interference if he were released on bail. Singh, arrested on October 4, contests the ED's claim of his key role in the scrapped excise policy, asserting that it unfairly favored specific liquor entities for financial gains and maintains his innocence.
