Congress MP Rahul Gandhi initiated contact with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Thursday evening, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing dynamics within the INDIA coalition just ahead of the upcoming general elections.
The two leaders are expected to discuss the fallout from the recent INDIA meeting held on Wednesday, where Mallikarjun Kharge was proposed as a potential PM candidate. The INDIA meeting saw Nitish Kumar seemingly overlooked for a leadership role, leading to reported clashes on issues like renaming the coalition as 'Bharat' and disagreements on seat-sharing strategies.
Nitish Kumar, who has publicly denied his Prime Ministerial ambitions, is believed to be privately aspiring for the role. The recent proposal of Mallikarjun Kharge as a potential convener and Prime Minister by Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal has added a new dimension to the political scenario.
