Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik announced her decision to quit wrestling in response to the election of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh's aide, Sanjay Singh, as the president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). Malik, along with other elite wrestlers, had previously protested against Singh's mentor, Brij Bhushan, accusing him of sexual harassment.
In a press conference, Malik expressed her disappointment and emphasized the need for a female president. Meanwhile, Brij Bhushan assured that there would be no vendetta against protesting wrestlers and affirmed impartiality in WFI's support to all athletes.
