Husband of Calcutta HC judge alleges torture by CID to depose against wife

Husband of Calcutta HC judge alleges torture by CID to depose against wife

Protap Chandra Dey, the husband of sitting Calcutta High Court judge Justice Amrita Sinha, has filed a complaint alleging torture by the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Dey, a practicing lawyer, claims that CID officials subjected him to abusive interrogation, demanding false statements against his wife.

The alleged incidents occurred during questioning related to an ongoing investigation, escalating when Dey refused to cooperate. The lawyer has brought the matter to the attention of the bar association, accusing CID sleuths of intimidation and threats against his family.
