Renowned actress Tanuja, aged 80, and mother of Kajol and Tanishaa Mukerji, was urgently hospitalized on the evening of Sunday, December 18, citing an age-related illness. Reports indicate that she has been placed under observation in the ICU at a hospital in Mumbai's upscale Juhu locality, which is near Kajol's residence.
As of now, the family has not issued an official statement regarding Tanuja's health, leaving fans and well-wishers concerned. Tanuja, celebrated for her career spanning several decades, was last seen on screen in 2022 in the anthology Modern Love Mumbai.
Starting her journey as a child artist in 1950 with Hamari Beti, she achieved fame through iconic films such as Jewel Thief, Haathi Mere Saathi, Hamari Yaad Aayegi, Izzat, Yaarana, Masoom, and Do Chor, among others. Additionally, Tanuja has made significant contributions to Bengali cinema.
Despite her recent health setback, she was actively involved in the Durga Puja festivities in October, a tradition upheld by the Mukerji family, known for organizing one of the grandest celebrations in the city. While there is assurance from sources close to the family that Tanuja is "doing well" and there is "nothing to worry about," the family is yet to release an official statement, maintaining privacy around her health condition.
