Late on Sunday night, a fire erupted in the Murgihati area of Naxalbari, Siliguri division, resulting in the destruction of three shops. The incident created a chaotic atmosphere for a brief period, and though there have been no reported casualties, the three shops involved suffered extensive damage.
According to local sources, the fire initially broke out in a grocery store before spreading to two adjacent shops. Upon receiving the fire alert, three fire engines rushed to the scene and, after hours of diligent efforts, managed to bring the blaze under control.
Siliguri Departmental Council Chairman Arun Ghosh, upon learning of the incident, promptly arrived at the location. Ghosh expressed his regret over the unfortunate incident and assured support for the affected individuals. The department council is committed to providing all possible assistance to those impacted by the fire.
