Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi addressed recent threats made by terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, asserting that Indian authorities had informed their counterparts in Canada and the United States about the matter.
Bagchi commented on the killings of Pakistan-based terrorists, expressing India's desire for individuals wanted in the country to "face our legal system." He emphasized the importance of those wanted in India coming to face justice, but refrained from commenting on developments in Pakistan.
Bagchi responded to Pannun's reported threat to attack India's Parliament, stating that the government takes such threats seriously. He acknowledged the complexity of the situation, cautioning against amplifying the credibility of extremists who seek media coverage for their threats.
The MEA has raised the matter with US and Canadian authorities, seeking cooperation in prosecuting Pannun for his alleged crimes. Bagchi also addressed the functioning of the Afghan Embassy in New Delhi and consulates in Mumbai and Hyderabad, affirming their continued operation and service provision to Afghan nationals.
