5 armed individuals stormed into the Axis Bank branch in Bihar's Arrah city, located in Bhojpur district, and looted Rs 16 lakh at gunpoint. The incident unfolded around 10:15 am, just after the bank opened for regular business on Wednesday morning.
The armed miscreants took both bank employees and customers hostage, securing the premises by pulling down the shutters from inside.
Law enforcement authorities, including the District Superintendent of Police (SP), Additional SP (ASP), Deputy SP (DSP), and Station House Officers (SHOs) from Nawada police station, swiftly responded to the scene. An ongoing investigation is being conducted to apprehend the culprits.
According to a spokesperson for the Bhojpur police, the robbers, armed and masked, entered the bank, held employees at gunpoint, confined them to a room, and executed the heist within four minutes.
The police are relying on CCTV footage, which captures the faces of the criminals, to aid in their efforts to apprehend the suspects.District SP, ASP, DSP and SHOs of Nawada police station reached the spot and investigation is underway.
