10 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, including two union ministers, have resigned from the Lok Sabha following their victories in the recent assembly elections.
The group, consisting of nine Lok Sabha MPs and one Rajya Sabha MP, submitted their resignations after meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president JP Nadda.While nine MPs submitted their resignations to the speaker's office, Kirori Lal Meena, a Rajya Sabha MP, handed in his resignation to the Rajya Sabha chairman.
The resigning MPs, numbering 12 in total, secured victories in the state elections held in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. Narendra Singh Tomar holds the agriculture portfolio while Prahlad Patel is the minister of state for food processing and Jal Shakti.
Among the 10 MPs who have resigned are Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Patel, Rakesh Singh, Uday Pratap Singh, and Riti Pathak from Madhya Pradesh; Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Diya Kumari, Kirori Lal Meena (Rajya Sabha MP) from Rajasthan; and Arun Sao and Gomti Sai from Chhattisgarh.
The last major shuffle in the Union council happened in July 2021 when 43 ministers, including 36 new faces, were inducted.
