The Vrindavan Ground in English Bazar city of Malda witnessed scenes of great chaos during a football knockout tournament, leading to a fierce fight. The chaos reached its peak during the final game over a goal dispute, resulting in a heavy lathicharge by the police to regain control. Spectators ran for safety, and the situation on the playground posed a serious threat to individuals. Numerous complaints of harassment, particularly against women, have surfaced.
Officials from the English Bazar police station and district police had to intervene to restore order on the field. Both district police and administration officials expressed dissatisfaction with the disruptive events during the football tournament. The two-day night knockout competition, organized by the Good Morning Club of English Bazar city on December 2 and 3, turned chaotic, with even Bengali film actor Jeet Ganguly's presence adding to the frenzy during the final game.
